TerrorTV is an alternate controller (“alt.ctrl”) game where players take the on the role of a News Anchor. Their goal? To read the news with a smile on their face, no matter how bad it gets. The game employs the usage of Vocal and Facial Expression detection (through OpenCV and OpenAI’s Whisper) in order to analyze player performance, and penalize any players who do not remain smiling throughout their entire play session.

The game was exhibited at GDC’s 2024 alt.ctrl.GDC showcase in San Francisco, and was nominated for the 2024 Independent Games Festival’s Alt.Ctrl category.
